In the pre-school
classroom, repetition and manipulation of
the environment are critical to the development
of concentration, coordination, independence
and a sense of order.
Children learn by associating
abstract concepts with concrete experiences.
This way the
child is actually learning and not just memorizing.
This method stresses that children learn and
progress at their own pace so that fast learners
are not held back, and slow learners are not
frustrated by their inability to keep up.
Our pre-school
environment is one which stresses peace, respect
and love for one another. It truly holds with
Maria Montessori's idea of a "child's
house."
The classroom
is the children's home and therefore becomes
a comfortable and open place to learn and
grow.
